The Very Thought Of You: Chantal Powell
30 August – 13 September 2009
Windows 204, Gloucester Road, Bristol.
This emotive new work by artist Chantal Powell resurrects a real romance from the 1930’s inspired by a collection of love letters between a separated couple, Peggy and Ron.
“My Darling Ron, I only want you to know I love you more than anyone or anything in the world. Every time I see you a thrill goes through me ... I have been thinking of our future happiness, just you and I in a little bungalow or house in the country. In the morning I would get up and cook you breakfast and see you off to business. We would go out in the evenings or stay in, just as you please. Then in the night we could go to bed any time we liked and could cuddle up together and have a lovely night and wake up together for the next day.”
The Very Thought Of You will be exhibited at Windows 204, Gloucester Road, Bristol and will invite the viewer to consider the beauty and hope of young romantic love alongside the disappointments and disillusionments that are foisted upon it by the passage of time.

With a doctorate in social psychology her practice concerns the universal emotions that connect us all as human beings.Chantal’s work has been exhibited in Hampshire, Birmingham, London and Venice.
