". . her art investigates reflections, transparences, sepia colours… A wave of mixed comfort and nostalgia. Each of her creations means to create an emotion, wake up a forgotten memory – maybe a bright childhood joy, a slice of life, a smile form a loved one, a face."

"Here at Salon Contemporary, we were thrilled to support Southampton based artist Chantal Powell in her solo exhibition "Traces and Testament" at Westbourne Grove Church last month in Notting Hill. The show's engaging mix of fragile installations and found objects embedded in history recieved fantastic feedback and saw an On The Cover feature in AN Magazines September issue. "

"August's First Wednesday was delighted to have on board Southampton based artist Chantal Powell who held a compelling solo exhibition entitled "Traces and Testament" at the Westbourne Grove Church here in London's West End! Viewers were met with engaging installations of intricate lace and fragile materials, and found objects that explored the boundaries between reality and imagination . . . Her work plays with the "childhood idea of discovery and secrets", which was truly evident and rather magical at the Traces and Testament exhibition. Her pieces were open to a range of interpretations which made them incredibly accessible, hence a great success!"

"Artist Chantal Powell uses found objects to create emotionally potent works . . . each sculpture tells its own story, a fragile nest encased in a glass box or secrets in boxes bound with gold thread convey profound messages."

"RECOMMENDED - artist Chantal Powell at The Bristol Gallery. A Stark iron bed is lined with a mattress of lush peacock plumes and a wooden chest is filled with treasure of glass eggs and white feathers in this intriguing exploration of childhood dreams."
