Ceramic and bronze works
This group of ceramic and bronze works draws on Jungian psychology, mythological imagery and 16th- and 17th-century illustrated alchemical manuscripts. Some works borrow directly from alchemical diagrams and texts, while others fold symbolic forms into one another: eggs become vessels, vessels become bodies, and breasts become sources of nourishment, incubation and transformation.
Across the series, recurring motifs include alchemical vessels, mythic eggs, helmets, scarab forms, sistrums and the green lion. References to multi-breasted Artemis, ancient Egyptian ritual instruments, the Emerald Tablet and the Rosarium Philosophorum sit alongside a wider interest in psychic change, conjunction and the symbolic life of matter.
